Our Mission Statement

Being Christ in Community!

We believe in God, and that Scripture is God’s self-revelation to humanity. We believe that the church is a diverse group seeking God together. We emphasize that God is present in each person’s uniqueness, that we are each fearfully and wonderfully made in the image of God, and that humanity, in all our diversity, are called to actively share the love of God with the world.

Core Beliefs

The Church:

We believe the Church consists of all people who earnestly seek God regardless of denomination, gender, race, creed, or nationality. “We are One Body.”

JROL is a diverse community, unified through faith. We are committed to the teachings of Christ; the Great Commandments, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, strength, and mind, and love your neighbor as yourself,” and the Great Commission, “Go and make disciples of all nations.” At JROL, we do these things by walking through life together, and “Being Christ in Community.”

God:

We believe God is loving, grace-filled, just, compassionate, holy, and is present with us in every aspect of life. We experience God in creation, relationships, worship, scripture, and the practice of spiritual disciplines.

Bible:

The Bible is a compilation of books written by many authors over thousands of years. It is composed of history, law, poetry, prophecy, and letters. It is best when read within historical and cultural context to understand the depth of God’s intended message. The written Word in conjunction with the Living Word (Christ) is God’s fullest self-revelation to the world. The Bible is relevant in our daily lives and is useful to inspire humanity to be the extension of God’s love to one another.
